Against the background of an endless stream of mobile gacha games with aggressive monetization, Guardian Tales looks like an exception to the rule. There is no forced advertising, the appeal pool is generous by the standards of the genre, and you can complete a significant part of the content absolutely for free. For a mobile RPG from Kakao Games, this is an unexpectedly honest approach.

Visually, the game mixes several styles at once and does it organically: pixel-based chibi versions of characters on three-dimensional maps, full-fledged 2D art in dialogues and cutscenes. It looks original and with character. Over 150 unique characters, each with their own fighting style, voice acting, and costumes.

The gameplay is not limited to pressing a single button. Manual control in battles, jumping, dodging, using the environment — throw a boulder at the enemy or blow up a barrel at the right moment. In parallel, there are puzzles, hidden rooms and forks in the plot. The story is written with humor and unexpected twists — not a typical fantasy canvas, but a lively narrative with self-irony.

There is a lot of content here: guild raids, real-time PvP, idle mode for passive farming, cooperative battles, building the Heavenhold castle with fishing and farming. The game does not rush and does not put pressure on urgency.

On the downside, the first download requires at least 3 GB of free space, and on weak devices, the initial download time can be annoying. The command preset system has become more complex after one of the updates than it was before.
